At EPS, we believe photography is a creative journey best shared with fellow enthusiasts. Our members use anything from phones to traditional film to the latest digital cameras. Whether you are just starting out seeking inspiration through to an experienced professional looking to excel and earn international distinctions, at EPS you will find a welcoming community where you can thrive. 

We are based in Edinburgh’s historic UNSECO New Town and connected nationwide and beyond, hosting local and international collaborations and competitions, as well as inspiring members with lectures by renowned photographers from around the world. Established in 1861 you will become a member at one of the oldest photographic societies in the world. Join us today and expand your creative journey. 

As a member, you can: 

• Participate in all society meetings, events, and activities—either in person or online. 

• Learn and be inspired through workshops, lectures, critiques, and mentorship. 

• Focus within our specialist Groups such as Nature, Creative, Photobook, and Phoenix 

• Practice and experiment in our Studios or traditional Darkroom. 

• Showcase your work in our annual Members’ Exhibition or Edinburgh Central Library Exhibition. 

• Develop skills in Fine Art Printing, Mounting, Photoshop & Lightroom editing, Studio workshops and competing in photographic competitions. 

• Access our extensive collection of photographic books in our Library to discover the works of photographers, their stories, techniques and artistic inspiration.
