"The Photobook Group is where photography meets storytelling — from first ideas to finished books and zines."

Bringing Stories to Life on the Page

Formed in late 2023, the Photobook Group is the newest part of EPS. It is an informal, welcoming space for anyone who wants to turn a sequence of photographs into something lasting and tangible, whether that is a handmade book, a short zine, or a printed photobook.

We focus on the whole journey from first idea to finished object. Together we look at how to edit and sequence images, build a strong visual narrative, choose paper and format, and decide on binding and print options. Sessions mix practical making with friendly critique, so you can test ideas, improve your

pictures, and shape them into a clear story.

What you can expect:

  • Practical workshops on editing, sequencing, layout, typography, paper choice, and binding

  • Step-by-step sessions on making simple dummies and zines you can produce at home

  • Guidance on printing, from desktop printers to local and online services

  • Group reviews to strengthen your projects and refine your storytelling

  • Examples from classic and contemporary photobooks for inspiration

  • Occasional guest talks or member show-and-tells

  • Signposting to suppliers, tools, and templates

Who it’s for:

  • Photographers of any level who want to move beyond single images

  • Makers who enjoy hands-on craft and small editions

  • Anyone curious about telling a story with pictures in book form

What you’ll leave with:

  • A clearer project idea and a tight image sequence

  • One or more physical dummies or a finished zine

  • A practical workflow you can reuse for future projects

  • Support from a small community that shares resources and feedback

You do not need design experience. Bring a set of photographs and an open mind. We will help you shape them into something you can hold, share, and be proud of. Do look out for meetings which are posted on our Events Calendar.
