What is Gamma?

Formed by Wilf Hall in 1981, Gamma Photo Forum brings together a community of experienced, like minded, photographers, from the north of England.

Our aim is to provide inspiration, friendship and fun. We share and discuss our images, and learn from each other, in a spirit of openness and encouragement.  We meet on a Sunday, six times a year, for a whole day. We have a mix of meetings where members show their own work, or projects, to stimulate interaction and learning.  We also invite carefully selected guest speakers to spend the day with us talking through their own work and their approach to image making.

We strive to maintain a higher level of discussion and understanding about images, trends and photography as a whole.  We celebrate members successes and encourage every member to progress on their own photographic journey.

Ethos

We work collegiately, encouraging member participation in all Gamma activities, expressing their views, opinions and understanding.

We always encourage dialog and discussion on all subjects to provide deeper understanding and interpretation of the photographic image.

We seek to introduce new ideas and knowledge of trends in photography, providing a source of education through sharing.

We are not competitive between ourselves, we willingly share our knowledge and understanding and actively support individual development.
